Welcome to the website of Alexandra Popoff. I am a former journalist, an expert in Russian literature and culture, and a biographer. My current project is a concise interpretive biography of Ayn Rand, commissioned by Yale University Press (Jewish Lives).

I began my career as a journalist working in Moscow. As a 1991 Alfred Friendly Press Fellow I wrote for The Philadelphia Inquirer and its Sunday magazine. Later my essays and book reviews have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Huffington Post, Literary Hub, The Globe and Mail, National Post, and Tablet Magazine.

Before turning to literary biography I lectured in Russian literature and history in Canada.
